Big apologies

Big big apologies.  The last few months have been very stress full.  Unfortunately my father in law took ill in the summer and is still not well and I have been going through personal issues to, hopefully 2012 will be a good year for us all.

Have managed to do some card making, on face book is a group for those that love Crafters Companion products, a fantastic lady by the name of Marie Richardson made this fantastic tea light card.  There is a link to the blog.  Here is my effort, went for the art deco look on the front, made from pearl baby blue centrica card. The circles were cut out using the nesties.  Need to find a way of doing without damaging the box!

We also had my Brother and Sister in law’s 25th wedding anniversary at the beginning of October and use the template from B-C-E to make the easel card, and then used images from Humphrey’s CD.  Found the sentiment on the web, absolutely love it!

Did the following for the Crafters Companion competition, and used the snowman for a tent card, and Humphrey for the double easel card.

The stage show was fantastic had a great time and believe the muffins made went down a treat

I am going to try and include a card that I have made previously but not shown on here.  This one is a card I made for mother’s day.  I used Joanna Sheens Tales of the Orient, just matted and layered on to silver mirror card and set with black flower with a red brad in the middle.  All I do for the brads rather than put it through the card is, put it in and the open the wings out and then cut the excess off with a pair of sharp scissors, then stick down with a glue dot.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and prosperous New Year. See you in 2012.

Award winning.......

Well not quite!, entered the Dundee Food and Flower Festival with a couple of entries for the first time this year, and I came second in the craft collection of designing three articles for a wedding an invitation, a favour and one own choice.   Was very happy with the result!

Not really been busy on the card front, too busy working, we also went away for a week in Tarland in Aberdeenshire, the sat nav took us up the cairn o mount, it is really steep!  The car already heavy laden with camping gear also struggled as the petrol light came on showing empty! Thankfully we had enough to get us to Aboyne but boy it is steep, on the way home I refused to let my husband go back that way! The weather was good and we had a good time exploring the area. We went to Braemar, Crathie and Balletar. Was going to go to Balmoral but the price put us off. In Braemar there was this fantastic shop that still made sweets by hand, oh god the smell was wonderful, as it was the really old fashioned sweeties! We then went down to North Berwick for a few days, we could not stay any longer as we had a twenty first birthday for a family member that day, and she had lost her uncle only two weeks before and we had missed his funeral due to our holiday in Aberdeenshire

We are going to be busy next week, we are stage crew in a production of Hi De Hi, by a local group who raise money for charities, if you happen to be Dundee and fancy a ticket, the show is at the Gardyne Theatre, showing Wednesday – Saturday, and if happens to be your birthday you may get a mention as well as a muffin from me!

Somebody mentioned on her blog about making milk cartons, so I found a pattern on the internet and reduced it down to make mini favour boxes, hope you like them.

We were also at a wedding recently, and I made card from the Crafters Companion CD of Humphrey's corner.  I had originally done the box frame but did not like it, so just cut away the image and mounted it onto an easel card instead. Found the sentiment on line and used that rather than just a standard greeting.

Where has the time gone again!!!

I know, I know!!!

One of those things again, been really busy at work which is not helping, thankfully off this week, so should be able to catch up.

I ended up buying a load of BCE Templates as I think they are soooooo fab. This is card that I made and used the card dancers CD from Card Creations. Printed the spotted on to 300gsm card and the stripe also on to 300 gsm,  The border is printed onto 200gms card and then cut to fit, and then put thin black ribbon down both edges.  The image has then been put in the centre.  Have been staring at it for a while, but think that it does not need anything else!

Made this for my sister, in a way getting my own back on her for some of the cards that she sends me.  This is from Joanna Sheen's Viva La Diva CD, which is interactive.

Made this delicious card from a sample down load from Crafters Companion, I turned it into a easel card using cream card that I used to make my own wedding invitations from, the frame was cut out using my Cricut and the accents essentials cartridge, the main image was put onto a square of the same base card, and then the gems added.

Made some wedding stationery samples to be entered into a completion, the favour box outside is plain but have printed roses onto the acetate before cutting

I also made a triangle favour box; I printed cherubs onto the card and then left the acetate windows plain so it did not detract from the box.

Hope you like, have fun

Where has the time gone

Where has the time gone, it’s one of those things that you mean to do something and next thing another month has gone!

Made some chocolate mice for work, used dark chocolate and then use fondant icing mixed to a thick consistency and filled the mice, delicious, I made Baileys and peppermint.  I had already tried rose water; they went down very well at work!  I am aiming to start selling them in the shop shortly!  I have bought some other flavouring but I need to stop eating the chocolate, it is soooo creamy!

Because I did not publish last month I have done two different techniques.  This one is from Leanne Chivers from Crafters companion, if found this ages ago and saved it and then forgot about it.  I found it when clearing up the external hard drive!

The other technique is a box frame card, was searching the internet to figure out how to do something similar and came across this on YouTube. I had just received the MCS paper craft library of 3, 4 & 5 and thought that Violet would look fab.  I printed onto 200 gsm card and then decoupage Violet; I then printed the background directly onto the card and added ribbon.  Violet was put onto silver mirror card.  The sentiment I made myself using Inkscape. Had this for ages but never really used until a wee tutorial came out in a magazine and away I went.  Been able to create my own png images which give a transparent background.

Used the same technique for my father in law’s birthday, (which was late!) using peter rabbit.

I made the following for my mother in law’s birthday next week, I got the paper craft inspirations which had a free cd with some docrafts images, so I picked daisy.  The paper is put onto gold mirror card, then using the cuttlebug swiss dots and nesties and then made another nestie in more paper from the disc before putting Daisy on. I then added a flower with a pearl gem.  The gem is not through the paper but stuck on with a glue dot.

Really starting to enjoy crafting again,
Until April.     bye

ops and ops again

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope you have all had a good time over the festive period, been rather busy at work and lost my mojo for the crafting, so sorry for the delay.   We were also without internet for a month, we changed our provider and due to delivery issues at our local office plus the weather it took a month for us to get the router!  Boy was I climbing up the wall and having to go over to in-laws to get access was not helping. We have had a couple of trips to the vets with Bluey, somehow his eye got infected, but seems to be recovering now, the vet could not get hold of him to exam his eye properly the first time so had to do it from a distance, the vet said that Bluey was too fast for him, and that he was usually good at catching them was well! And then about 3 weeks later we had to go back as it healed and then got worst but thankfully Bluey is making a good recovery.  Menace and Bluey did enjoy their trip to the vets, and Santa was good to them at Christmas.  We also had two funerals within the space of two weeks, one a friend and the other a distant relation just before Christmas.

I am determine that this year I really take off on the craft side of things and develop the web site and do a few craft fairs, need to revive my interest in crafting again.
Bought some new carts for the Cricut Expressions from Create and Craft, create a critter and walk in the garden and created a couple of cards with that, the first one is from walk in the garden and used an A4size card due to the size I printed off!  Made ladybirds and cornflowers, and then “thanks a bunch”.  The other card has beehives and a couple of bees.

Found a template that I’d like in January’s Quick cards made easy and instead of cupcakes (could not find any bigger ones than the Martha Stewart stamp and punch) got My Craft Studio “a bit of folk” cd and made Russian dolls instead.

I got the Kraft Konstruction CD from My Craft Studio and made one up using the pre-cut templates, for the box, I cut the middle square out, put in an acetate window and then a fine line of glitter around the cut edge.

Been busy knitting as well, discovered the can can wool and love it! Here are a couple of scarves that I have made using the wool, love some of the colours, especially the red!

Until the next time.
Chou!
